9:33 am - What is happening to this world?
|
Things are going to get worse - not better. More wars, more bombings, more snipers, more hatred. There is no hope for this world, there never has been – not since sin entered into it.
God is love. God created the world perfect. There was no death, no disease, and everything was beautiful. We can still see a lot of that in the world today. When Adam and Eve sinned, the judgment of death and suffering was brought into this world. Who is to blame? We are. When we sin - when we are selfish, when we consider our feelings at the expense of someone else’s - we deserve God’s judgment. We have no right to say to God, “Why?” The answer to ‘why’ is because of our evil deeds.
Did Jacob deserve to die? Yes – because of his sin. Did his good deeds outweigh his bad?
What are you going to say to God when you meet him? God is love. Heaven is perfect. God can’t allow sinful people into heaven. How do you plan to get into heaven? Will you say to God, “Look at all these good things I did?” He will show you all the bad. Scripture says in Romans 3:23, “For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Again in Romans 3:10, “There is no one righteous, not even one.”
Will everyone go to hell – eternal separation from God? Yes – it is all we deserve. But, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.”
I deserve God’s punishment, but God took that judgment and put it on his only beloved son, Jesus, in my place. He died for me that I might enter into heaven. Its nothing that I have done. Its only by TRUSTING in what God has already done through the sacrifice of Jesus that God’s judgment upon me is passed over and my sins have been washed away.
Have you ever heard the expression, “He loved her so much he would die for her?” That’s just what God did for you. You only have to trust and believe.
I taught Jacob what to say when he meets God and God asks him why he should be allowed into heaven. Say, “I don’t deserve to go because of my sins. I ask for your forgiveness not because of anything I’ve done, but because of what Jesus did for me.” Jacob fully believed, because of his experiences with God in his short life, because of his recognition of the wonder and truth of God’s word, the Bible, and because he discerned the righteousness when he saw it.
Jacob doesn’t want you to wait. Today you might be shot by a sniper (another sniper - I’m glad they’ve finally got him), or hit by a truck! Its too important a question. Give it your full consideration. How will you get to heaven?

5:53 pm - Truth
|
I apologize if I've offended anyone with my words. When I speak of what I believe I'm not talking about what I think I believe - I KNOW. That's the nature of what happens when you have experiences with God. The problem is that it automatically infers that contrasting views of God are wrong. Toleration does not mean we have to accept other views of God as equally valid - it means I respect what others believe and still love them. I want to have a give and take dialoge with others in a unselfish and brotherly manner.
current music: Almost Cut My Hair, Crosby Stills Nash and Young (about David Crosby trying to kick his drug habit for his girlfriend's sake)
current scripture - Romans 9:1-3 I speak the truth in Messiah--I am not lying, my conscience confirms it in the Holy Spirit--I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Messiah for the sake of my brothers...

3:38 pm - A POEM BY JACOB'S AUNT MARSHA
|
So little time, so much to say. Jacob, we'll miss you every minute of every hour of every day. Your family and friends, your teachers, your peers, All knew you were wise, dear Jacob, beyond your years. So cute as a toddler, so loving and kind and as you grew up, we envied your mind. You were everyone's friend, and you loved one and all, Did I mention, dear Jacob, you had gotten so tall? You loved your music, the piano, guitar, When you worked at something, you became a real star. Break dancing, swimming and yes the Madrigal. Your talents were many. They seemed magical. But with all of this, not one can compete with your love of the Bible. It made you complete. As I finish these thoughts in this moment in time, your favorite color, orange--Jacob, there just is no rhyme. So maybe you picked it instead of red or blue- cause there will never be someone as special as you. I will love you always, -Aunt Marsha

12:20 am - THE WORD IS "ORANGE"
|
|
The Wilens' family is going to try to all wear orange ribbons on our shirts to Sat's memorial service. (Just like the pink breast cancer ribbons). It would be wonderful if others would do the same. Or, just wear something orange. It would be awesome to see that. Please spread the word.
